About us

Immanuel Lutheran School was founded in 1980.  The congregation, feeling a need for a Lutheran School in the area, established ILS as an intergral ministry of the Church.  The school opened its doors for the first time in September 1980 with 72 students.  Since that time we have been blessed with classroom expansions and the addition of a preschool program in 2008.  Today we bring over 40 years of success, providing a quality Christian education for students from preschool to 8th grade.

Highlights include:

  • Dual accreditation by the Flordia Department of Education and by the National Lutheran School Accreditation.
  • Preschool for 3 and 4 year olds (VPK accepted).
  • An outstanding program for Kindergarten through 8th grade.
  • Full curriculum including computer instruction, P.E., Spanish, music, and other middle school electives.
  • Extended care program offering both morning and afternoon care.
  • On-site hot lunch program offering a balanced meal.
  • Athletics program featuring multiple sports during the school year.  Our teams compete against other schools in the Tampa Bay Christian Athletic League (TBCAL).
  • Summer Camp for 3 year olds through entering third grade.

Our Philosophy

As a ministry of Immanuel Lutheran Church, we strive for academic excellence through a strong partnership among home, school and church.  The Christian education weshare embraces all aspects of a child's development from preschool through eighth grade.

Our Mission: Sharing the Love, Joy and Peace of Jesus Christ with students and their families while building Christian leaders through Biblical instruction and pursuit of academic excellence.

The theme for 2025 National Lutheran School's week is "Endure," based on the following verse (Hebrews 12:1-3)

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.”

We are most grateful for the opportunity to share Jesus' amazing love with children and their families. National Lutheran Schools Week gives us an opportunity to proclaim these great blessings within the communities we serve.

Accreditation

Immanuel Lutheran School is accredited by the Florida-Georgia District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) and is also accredited by the National Lutheran School Association (NLSA), an accreditation recognized by the Florida Department of Education.  Every five years ILS conducts a thorough self-study based on accreditation standards.  This extensive self-study, completed by teachers,  Board members and parents covers all areas of our program from campus safety to fulfillment of curriculum goals.  Following the thorough self-study, goals, objectives, and strategies are developed with a timeline for completion of each strategy.  Annual progress is reported each year to the Florida-Georgia District of the LCMS accreditation committee which reports to the national accrediting agency.

Once students are enrolled families will receive a log in to access the system. Sycamore enables students and parents to seamlessly receive information from teachers as well as contact them and view upcoming events, news, assignments, grades and more.
