C. Personal Biography: I’m married to my husband Troy and we have a 5yr old daughter named Claire. We attend Immanuel Lutheran Church. Claire started preschool at ILS when she was 3. I remember how nervous my husband I were to have Claire starting preschool at the age of 3. We met Mrs. Trish when we came to tour the preschool. After meeting with Mrs. Trish we knew instantly that this is where we wanted Claire to attend Preschool. She had Mrs. Holly the first year here whom Claire really adored. Last year Claire attended VPK with Mrs. Trish and Mrs. Holly for her teachers. She was so excited to have them both as her teachers. Claire will be continuing her schooling at ILS. We are very excited to have Mrs. Bonne for her kindergarten teacher this year. I started subbing in the 3yr old classroom last year and had the privilege to work with Mrs. Deb and Mrs. Dee Dee throughout the year. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to get my 40hrs in early child care, which led to the opportunity for me to become the Asst Teacher. I’m very excited to be starting here this fall as a staff member of the ILS Preschool Family.

I love sharing the love, joy and peace of Jesus with my students.  We dance, sing and play our way through letters, letter sounds, counting and so much more!  One area I love focusing on is science experiments.  We make crystal snowflakes and volcanoes too!  We work on social emotional issues to help our students grow into a well rounded kingergartener.

Favorite verse: I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.   -John 16:33

I believe education is a life long journey.  Education should be fun and engaging.  Each day we can learn something new.  I enjoy taking continuing education classes and workshops that I can share and use in my classroom.  Teaching is a ministry.  When I think of teachers that have influenced my life, I think of Godly examples of character, integrity, honesty, passion and someone who cares.  I am looking forward to helping each child reach their potential while working with their families.

One of my goals is to promote social and emotional development in children.  My goal is to help children be able to express their fellings and thoughts in a positive way so they can gain respect from both peers and adults.  Each child is unique and special in his/her own way.  We as a class discuss character qualities like kindness, helpfulness, listening, taking turns, encouraging others and being respectful to others, including yourself.  It is important to acknowledge those characteristics when they are demonstrated.  We start the day with a good morning song and we mention each child by name and tell them we are so glad that they are here.  We work together and do our best.  In my class, we have a rule to never say, "I can't" but we will say, "I will do my best."  If a child does his best, that is all I can ask for.  I believe it is important to encourage children to try new things, and have them develop self confidence.  I make sure I have learning opportunities that are age appropriate and they are able to be completed by the child at their level of development.  When a child is successful in activities, is making friends and feels what he/she does is important, they will grow in emotional and social development.  It is great to see each child make progress and reach new benchmarks throughout the year!
